The Region around Lagard-Hachan

Peyroutet is in the village of Lagarde-Hachan, a small village located in the south west of France.  It is located in the department of the Gers in the French Midi-Pyrenees region. The village has approximately 170 inhabitants.

The Gers is one of the least densely populated departments in France and is often referred to as the "Tuscany of France".There is no heavy industry or autoroutes. It has some of the cleanest air in all of Europe. It is therefore no surprise that Gascons live longer than any other people in France.  You will find an almost untouched landscape with a magnificent scenery of sloping hills and valleys with magnificent views as far as the Pyrenees.

The summers are very hot and dry with temperatures sometimes exceeding 40°.  The winters vary with occasional freezing temperatures but the climate remains mild and dry with the Gers being one of the sunniest departments in France.

Alexandre Dumas, created the famous Gersois d'Artagnan, the fourth musketeer of The Three Musketeers and there is a statue of d'Artagnan at the top of the steps in Auch and a museum in the village of Lupiac.
